FLIGHT TRAINING

 

BECOME A PILOT!

At Fly Maui, you can fulfill your dream of becoming a pilot! Whether you’re flying for fun or looking for a career in aviation, learning to fly in Maui will be one of the most rewarding undertakings you’ve ever done. Our philosophy is simple: to provide excellence in training at competitive rates that enables ANYONE with a passion for flight to become a pilot.

 

PRIVATE PILOT CERTIFICATE

Requirements:

  • Be at least 17 years of age

  • Be able to read, speak, and understand the English language

  • Obtain at least a current third-class medical certificate

  • Receive a minimum of 40 hours of flight time including training and solo flight

  • Pass a knowledge test as well as the practical test

The INSTRUMENT RATING

Requirements

  • Hold at least a private pilot certificate

  • Be able to read, speak, and understand the English language

  • Log 50 hours of cross country as PIC

  • Receive a minimum of 40 hours of instrument of actual or simulated instrument fLIght training

  • Pass a knowledge test as well as the practical test

  • Refer to 14 CFR 61.65 FOR DETAILS

COMMERCIAL PILOT CERTIFICATE

Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age

  • Be able to read, speak, and understand the English language

  • Obtain at least a current second-class medical certificate

  • Log a total of 250 hours of total flight time

  • Pass a knowledge test as well as the practical test

  • Hold an Instrument rating unless seeking a VFR only (restrictions apply)

  • Refer to 14 CFR 61.123 FOR DETAILS


FLIGHT TRAINING RATE (NON-RESIDENT): $345/HR (INCLUDES PLANE, FUEL & FAA CERTIFIED FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR)

wet rental: $255/HR, $220/hr block rate (kama’aina); $285/hr (non-resident)

flight instruction: $60/hr

GROUND INSTRUCTION: $50/HR

REDBIRD TD2 SIMULATOR (BATD): $85/HR (INCLUDES RENTAL & INSTRUCTION)

FINANCING, PAY-AS-YOU-GO, TIME BUILDING, AND SPECIAL ARRANGEMENTS CAN BE MADE.
